A completely random fact that amuses me.
edgar allan poe, an american poet, was seventeen years old when he was accepted into the university of virginia. his first year he managed to gamble away all his scholarship money. it was also reported that edgar owed around $2500 to local gamblers. his gambling addiction led to alcoholism, which is still debated by many of poe’s followers today. however, it was reported by school systems that edgar showed up in class drunk even during the examinations. the interesting fact is that edgar allan poe finished with the highest grades in his class and became the best student of his generation.
