sometime, somewhere, somehow, everybody has thought about other forms of life that are outside of our knowledge of existence. sure, we’ve found water on mars, but we have found no “little green men” or any E.T.’s that man has been able to locate or communicate with.
the fact that scientists determined there could be “one hundred billion Earth-like planets in our galaxy” is nothing short of amazing considering the fact that there is a possibility we are not alone in the universe. of course, you always wonder what the military or government could be hiding or covering up that they believe the general public is best not knowing.
i tend to think that the same people who believe in alien life-forms are the same people that believe in ghosts. most of the time, these people are similar to agnostics in that they don’t have true knowledge of the existence, but they also do not have the evidence proving they do not exist.
personally, i also think it’d be naive of man to believe we are the only intelligent life in this vast universe. (i use the word “intelligent” fairly loosely considering the caliber of reality tv programming currently airing on VH1.) but considering the relatively slow pace of our space exploration, chances are if there are other life forms in the galaxy, they may find us first.
and depending on your sci-fi movie preferences, could be a good or bad thing.

if there are indeed aliens among us, one google image predicts they are not fond of accordion music.
