ruminations of a kennedy RSS

this is something i found and thought i'd give it a shot with little to no expectations other than to provide another outlet on the web that allows me to spill my thoughts, reflections, demented humor, and personal wisdom. (or is it ignorance?)

End of Day 2 of the Master Cleanse

day 2 is just about in the books. a day where everybody is celebrating the st. patrick’s day holiday was an interesting day to not drink on (saturday), but i’ve done my share of st. pat’s celebrations in the past, so i think i’m entitled to a day off of drinking green beer, or a beautiful pint of guinness which i will no doubt treat myself to in another month or so.

no big st. patrick’s party for me this year

as far how i felt today, i did awake to some hunger pangs which forced me out of bed. after rising and moving around, and having my first drink of the day, they did eventually subside. aside from that, my energy levels were normal throughout the day and i didn’t have any other problems.

i did think this was going to be my first real challenging day due to the fact i would be at home without the distractions of work. so while i kept busy doing some chores and making my drinks, i eventually made my way to my couch to do some work on my laptop. i flipped on the tv and watched my favorites shows on the travel channel. and if you are familiar with its programming, you would know that most of the shows emphasize food all over the world. and to be truthful, it didn’t bother me that much. as strange as it sounds, at one point i closed my eyes and i could imagine exactly how some of the food would taste. the smell and aroma, the texture, the consistency, all the way to swallowing it down my gullet. it was pretty amazing considering in the back of my mind i knew i wasn’t going to taste any of these foods until weeks have passed. but it sure tasted fantastic in my mind for those brief few minutes.

then later in the day, i had to witness my roommate devour a large muffaletta from a local deli. although it did look and smell amazing, it still didn’t drive me crazy that i couldn’t have that or anything else. that tells me (hopefully) that i may have reached the first milestone in the cleanse. will the next 2 days be as manageable?

end of day 2, 194.5: already lost 6 lbs. mostly water weight i’m sure, but still pretty remarkable nonetheless.
